In respectful memory of the world famous aerial photographer and director from Taiwan

My mission, my vision is to share what I've been seeing photographing Taiwan. And to keep seeing.

Chi Po-Lin (1964-2017)

Fascinating Fans is about people who see the world with their own eyes. Who see things their own way and use their perspectives to see special images and moments. Who work on great ideas, look ahead, and have a new perspective. To us, these people are ambassadors.

One of these people was Chi Po-Lin from Taiwan, one of the world's best aerial photographers and directors. Famous for his documentary film 'Beyond Beauty - Taiwan from Above', Chi used his perspective for a greater good, namely the preservation of the beauty and culture of his homeland.

Before this film was completed, Chi Po-Lin lost his life in an aerial cinematography mission while shooting his next film in Taiwan. We are proud and thankful for the opportunity to have met and worked with him and to have shared his view of the world from above.

Po-lin Chi: My name is Chi Po-lin, and I’ve been photographing Taiwan from above for more than 20 years.

Can you describe, what do you perceive looking through your lenses?
Change the lens you look through, and the world in front of your eyes changes along with it.

Why are your eyes important for you?
My eyes are everything to me. They’re what I rely on to see and record the world in front of me, so that I can share it with others.

What is your connection with ZEISS?
I believe strongly in the importance of clarity, vision, perspective... and so does ZEISS lenses.

Why do you capture the world from above?
The first time I photographed Taiwan from above, I saw it in a totally new light. A way I’ve never seen it before, despite the fact that it is my home.

Why is your work special?
The places I’ve seen from the air, most people will never get the chance to see.

What is the purpose of your work?
Sharing the images and experiences I’ve had seeing Taiwan from above, and sharing the importance of its natural beauty, is my mission.

What is it all about?
Capturing Taiwan is not only my mission ... but my life’s desire.

Chi Po-Lin was one of the world's best photographers and directors, renowned for his aerial recordings. He came to fame with his film 'Beyond Beauty: Taiwan from Above', in which he captured the beauty and nature of his native Taiwan in epic images and personal impressions. He dedicated his life to the task of preserving Taiwan and sharing his love for his homeland with the world.
